'85 GSL update
#1
After taking some time off for vacation, I came home and got around to pulling the original blown 81K mileage out of my '85 GSL and putting in a good condition used "keg" shortblock from my '84 GS. It took 5 hours, but went pretty smooth. FBs are soo much easier to work on then the FC for some reason, the rotary gods must just be happy w/ me or something...
I need to replace an exhaust stud though, anybody know what the size is?
The keg is in, but i need to bolt up the manifolds, carb and hook up the harness, etc.. but shouldnt take but an hour or two...
Here are some pics I've included - I also pressure washed the engine bay and degreased as much as I could considering the original engine spewed oil all over the backside near the brake booster, etc..

And the new engine in place ready for the rest of the goodies.
My goal right now is to just get it fired up and moving on its own power. I have two core 12A engines now, so i'm going to build a nice fresh one for the car and run the holley setup I had on the '84 w/ a full BP. I'm going on the dyno up against my buddies' stock rx8 so as long as I make more power than him, I'll be happy.. i'm shooting for 180whp on a full bridge and holley 650 with full dual RB exhaust...
Maybe more, maybe less..we'll see...

j9 - you know the size stud needed for a 12a exhaust manifold? I need to replace one, or at least maybe use a die to correct it, lol...
its the same as every other rotary exhaust, 8x1.25?
