I went the same route Directfreak went, drilled/tapped right under the OMP. There is a perfect indentation there for 1/2 NPT.

Now this swap is getting to me.I went to drill a hole a bit further up the shifter rod and the drill bit breaks.OK, then I goto to get the T2 front cover off to bring it to the auto parts place and went to get the pulley bolt off and loosen the flywheel nut instead. Damn the T2 motor. My old SE pulley bolt poped off after some motivation why the hell doesn't this one.ARG!

A vicegrip worked fine. They came out with some twisting and WD40. I hit them with a wirewheel and now they're all shiny with a few deep grooves in them from the teeth of the vicegrip. A little file action and they won't bind or go out of round when I tap them back into the front plate.
