Hi Everyone,

I recently purchased an 84 GSL. It has power steering and a/c but I want to remove both. I like manual steering much better and I don't need a/c since the windows work and the sunroof is huge! I'm gtrying to save weight as well.

The car has a header with a full exhaust and springs and shocks.

What would I need to make this conversion?

Thanks in advance,

Rob

I think you just need to switch out the steering box and the steering column. The both power steering and manual bolt up the same, the difference is in the box and with a two piece steering column for the power steering. If you switching to manual, you need to buy a new box... or loop the power steering fluid hoses back on each other, lift weights because the gearing is different...

Easy way out is just loop the hoses and call it a day.Unless you want to save a little weight.I don't think its worth the effort tho.I never had a 7 with power steering to confirm this.

Yup, it can be done, but it is hard to steer (especially at slow speeds. The gearing is faster with the power steering. What I would suggest is, remove the power steering belt, see if you like how it feels. and make a decision (before making any modifications). A manual steering box won't be has hard to steer...
