as some know, i have no p/s pump.... but i know when cars come without the power steering from the factory, they have a manual rack and no pump. my car has a power rack and no pump, which makes it SOMEWHAT hard to drive slowly... is there any manual rack for an fd? jt imports, you may know best about what they have by you..

 

Yes it can be done, actually. My friend converted his steering rack to manual.. i think he changed out the dog gear and had to have a valve in the rack welded shut or open.. don't know.. i can ask ... but it is a ***** of a job to do. The car does feel good without power steering, but i like powersteering.. just feels smoother...



If you really want a LOT of feedback from steering (ie you road race a LOT) then i would do the manual rack.. if you are doing it to make HP or something.. don't waste your time and money.
