Hey guys,

I just spent a good 4 hours making a rockford head unit

fit in the existing radio slot in a freind's 81 model rx7...

I am wiring it up tomorrow... I noticed there are three plastic

connectors all with about 4 wires on each... so if anyone

can save me some time and just tell me what coloured wire is which..

that would be great

otherwise.. ill have to use the multimeter..etc

Also, will there be any amps ill need to bypass like the 2nd gen?

I have already intsalled the new 6 inches in the rear..

So yeah.. any help wpuld be apprecited

the wiring in the first gens is kinda screwy. i beleive most ppl tend to run new wires. and yes there are 2 amps inside the rear bins...well thats on the 84-85, the 81s were a bit different.

not in an Aussie delivered 81!

Rear seats not storage bins my friend.

I ran new cabling for my clarion head unit, so I can't help you on the connectors. Can you check your wiring diagrams for colours?

Believe me.. it will be MUCH quicker to run your own wire. I didn't even attempt to use the factory wiring because of all the horror stories i've heard getting everything to work right. I did my complete stereo install in about 2 hours or so.
