yea thats the better way to go as far as increasing engine life but still you not going to see a big impruvement in performance if ther port it safe. maybe 5-9% HP gains. But hay you can port it to whatever you want. S4 are great engine in a slightly mod format. get rid of the exhast system and thermo reactor and she can kick some ***. the better engine to mod is the Turbo2

engines. a great combo is turbo 2 engine street ported with 10 to 1 rotors from the 89-91 n/a engines. you can port the exhaust housings without to much trouble and the intake porting is your best bang for you buck without going bridge port for any rotary engine. easy 190-200 hp for under $3000 rebuilt. you have to get a fuel comp and rework the fuel curve but it better then spending $5000-7000 on a engine alone that will not last that long. if you want more info PM.

or if push comes to shove just get a whole t2 drive train. engine tranny harness and ECU. Rebuilt the engine. Get a drive shaft from a 3rd gen rx-7(AUTO TRANNY) and bam you get 200HP. i think its a 3rd gen tranny

US$3000 = Est. AU$5,500... I am 18 (low money) and will be paying AU$1500 for the porting the job, most of my internal parts should be ok, and may not need replacing, hence the low price. The engine was only rebuilt about 60,000klm ago, which i think is about 30,000miles... So i would think most of it would be ok. The guy I might be getting to do it seems to think it will be fine with a bridge port... maybe he just wants the cash.
