2 Front Tires Gone
#1
my 2 front tires are completely destroyed because of the rediculously large amount of play in my steering. one blew out last night and the other one is so close to going that i dont even drive my car. the part of the tread closest to the center of the car on both tires is already worn down to the metal wires and ive only got 2-3,000 miles on them. i am about ready to sell this thing and get something that isnt 2 years my junior.

when i took my car in i specifically told the guy to check the steering box, he said all that **** is good and tight and that he did an alignment and i have a big problem. my car sat for so many years without being driven before i bought it that the actual frame has sagged and that is causing my two front strut towers to have some seriously messed up toe alignment. he said that there isnt anyone who makes camber plates for it and the only solution would be to take it to an autobody shop and have the frame bent; which even then isnt an exact science. ...any thoughts, especially on camber plates

i just blew out one of my front tires too. mine was because i was having too much fun in the snow though. on top of being old tires. I work at a body shop, and i can tell you, no reputable shop would even think about doing that for you. only hacks would bend your frame OUT OF SPEC. there are the camber plates you just found out about, but obviously something suspension wise and possibly steering wise needs to be replaced. unless your car is lowered a lot, the camber plates are only gonna bypass the problem, not solve it. don't know how much you know about your mechanic, but you might want to get another opinion from someone else that actually wants to fix something.

im not even sure if theyll fit w/o a lot of modification. because on the mazdatrix site they advertise them as going with that certain model tokico's they sell; i do have tokico's but i dont remember what model, i got them from victoria british and the cataloge is at home. plus $260 is a healthy chunk of change just to see if this works.
