Thanks for the perspective DOM

Yeah, I'm about 50/50 over what to do. On one hand, I can try to emphasize HR/managerial/supervisory experience..... on the other hand, I went to school to pursue psychology/counseling/therapy.

My attention span is horrible.... i was just re-reading my 1st post, and i got bored & stopped (to figure out which was assigned #1 & #2). School might not be the best thing for me until I leap that hurdle....

So far, I have 2 interviews for #1 lined up at diff. branches. I just applied on Monday for #2, and it prob won't proceed to the next step for another good month or so.

**If this "ressurgence" of spending by the county continues, I might get another shot at the Social Worker I position, which pays ~$20 - 27/hr. I didn't get it last time because the county realized they had no $$ 1/2 way through the hiring phase

Thnx for the responses (except series7's )

If you are serious about going back to school for psychology, then I can have you talk to my father-in-law. He is one of the top neuropsychologists in the country.

Keep in mind the job with slightly higher wages may bump you into a higher tax bracket, causing you to have less take home pay. I found this happened at a couple places if I worked a few hours overtime.

I vote for supervisor position.

Dom: Thnx for the offer; I might take you up on that later Right now Psychology, Family/Marriage counseling, & Education all look appealing. I've been procrastinating on apps & research though, mainly because I'm not too tempted to jump back into doing essays, tests, reading endless chapters of endless books, worrying about grades, etc.

I hope to figure out a plan within 1 more yr (just to see where working for the county can take me)

Turbo: Of course this thread would never work on the other forum. There's too much crap, and most posts are meaning less too

At least here, you & Frank can *edit* posts if necessary

Funny you should mention taxes.... I worked 13.5 hrs of O/T the other weekend, totalling a hair over $300. After taxes, I was left with $200. Ridiculous!

I fall here:

$26,250 - $63,550

income tax level

base: $3,637.50

rate = 27%

rate x gross over $26,250

*student exemptions would be nice right about now....
