yea i definitely prefer a cast manifold especially when it comes to a big/heavy turbo. I know vosko had problems with his T78 breaking SS manis, and by holding mine i can definitely see why. the fucker is heavy, so unless you brace it up or put braces all over the SS manifold (defeating the whole "SS is pretty" thing) then cast is a lot better.
plus when adding things as important as a manifold who chooses something cause its "prettier"? I'm going to run that HKS "log" manifold as well, but im going to try to use the RB flange to try an idea i have in my head to make the port line up better. kevin. Did I say I would take looks over functionality? I just said the other one looks like ass and it does. Believe me Kevin if my **** starts breaking I will remedy the problem even if it looks like ass. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...R#>/tongue.png |
GMON- interesting writeup and description. I hope others can use what you've found.
I did some cleaning.... |

actually before a mod cleaned up the topic you said "...i prefer SS because, for one its prettier..." of course thats not verbatim but the word pretty was in there. kevin. |
What is up with all this crap? Certified welder? LOL. I'd ebay that manifold and custom make your own. You will be by far more satisfied with your result. As far as keeping the item being welded up to temps, F-that! This **** isn't being shot out into space! https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683785.gif
If your manifold cracks (Not break. If it breaks, like fall on the ground, you shouldn't jump your car off ramps. You have issues.) reweld the crack. It's that simple. TIG, MIG, ARC, oxy-acetylene... They all get the job done. I prefer mig for steel items. It's quick, easy, and the welds come out fantastic. Why the hell do people need shiny SS manifolds? It's really retarded... Yes. BLING. Big whoop! |
My thoughts exactly! Again, it was just an FYI for other 7 owners.

Im running the cast manifold, my biggest reasons for running it was because it was so simple and would never crack.
As far as HP potential, i read just recently that kabooski's T2 did 520rwhp using the cast HKS manifold. *shrugs* |
yea, im still gonna run this manifold on my setup, but ill clean-up the ports a bit, not gonna go overboard and weld it back and make them match perfectly.
and yea i heard of kabooski hitting 520 with this and i think someone else was up there too, like 480 or something. kevin. |

If you can show a significant gain, ill drive up to phoenix, buy the manifold and you a coupla beers!! https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png |
as a side note, all this talk about turbos, manifolds and flow has got me itching to get my car on the dyno and see what she'll do.... https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png
