I concur. You shouldn't use a el-cheapo wastegate, it is the most important device and only device to control boost. There is no backup/redudancy either so if it craps your screwed.

I was sent one of those with my davinchi kit. I could not get it to open at all. I tried several spring rates. I also tried it with an authentic HKS spring to no avail. I eventually went ahead and bought the real HKS wastegate and it worked fine the first try. I compared the two and the only difference is the real one has a better material for a diaphragm. The generic one has shitty flimbsy material and I don't k now that its shaft is perfectly straight. I would not reccomend it to anyone.

Actually... a greddy pop off valve is a nice extra feature to add. That along with a boost-switched warning light to warn you of over boost would have saved my engine, and probably the turbo. I had one on my former IC setup but hadn't swapped it to the new setup when the wastegate stuck.. It's on there now though....

they do consider it a knock off "hks style replica's" etc, is a fancy way of saying "knock off"
considering theyve had like 5 different ebay names and change their company name every couple months, right now its like stone mountain or something.

yes but just because it's "styled" like a working wastegate, doesn't mean it's not going to work at all.
that's like saying new york style pizza is always going to taste like ****

The TiAL 44mm V-band is where it's at! It's just a hair over $300 from RRE (or it was when I ordered mine), it's perfect.

How would you use the vband with say a cast manifold? Just use a flange of some sort with the v-band welded on?
the Tial 44mm is on my "to get" list, but didnt want to get it if I cant use it on anything other than a tubular manifold.

I'm not sure if they make cast manifolds with a v-band connection in mind.
I made my own manifold.

Yeah, thats what I'm sayin...I dont think it would work, unless it was rigged up some way.
Also, what is RRE? link? cheapest I've seen the 44mm is $395..
