How thick of plate should I use to cut up some flanges from?I work at a fab shop and they garbage alot of plate that is the right demensions for flanges.I have some 1/2" thick plate here right now. Thanks

3/8" is normal, 1/2" will work fine. What steel is it?



I have an AutoCAD drawing of a 13b flange if you need one.

I'd use the 1/2 you have there. When welding the tubes to it you will have less chance of warping the flanges.

Cool,Thanks guys.I plan on using a Turbo II exhaust manifold gasket as a template.I can cut the external demensions tomorow with my torch until I get the gasket here tho.

if you warp the flange can't u rehone it after?

Yes it can be surfaced.





It's kind of hard to warp the flange for a rotary. There are only 2 runners.... So the weld cant really pull the edges up.
