So do I.

And if it's not, bill me and I will take care of it personally. Same with you Dave. I'll pay you for everything not there. At this point, it may just be easier for me to do it that way. Unfortunately, I didn't build, package, or ship anything. Just a middle man. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub..._DIR#>/sad.png

And a hundred bucks is out-*******-rageous to weld that on. I can buy the entire ******* welder for a little more than that...

TYSON 06-18-2004 10:22 AM

ATP Turbo sells V-band clamps on-line Dave.

Justin the money is not a concern but thanks. I'll get it together one way or another.

I will buy a nice TIG when I finish off my shop. My old man has a nice Snap-On MIG over at his place that I can use but the flange is made of alluminum and I didn't want to melt it. Rikki says he has a V-Band I can get from him. The elbow from Gotham is supposed to be here today. That only leaves me to find the nipples for the wastegate.

Thats ******* rediculous. I would have told the guy to **** himself. I got qouted $35 at 1 place and $20 at another. You got fucked hard man. Brian ended up welding my flange on my elbow for free.

Not getting it done would in time would have been ******* me. I needed it done and although the price is ridicoulous it was money i needed to spend to get the car done in time. Thats the way I see it anyway.

rather than order a special nipple, you can do it yourself dave.

buy a nut, drill it out, and tap it to NPT. drill a hole in the bottom of the IC pipe as close to the compressor housing as possible. weld nut to hole, and thread in a NPT nipple than can be bought at any autoparts store. i put mine on the bottom of the pipe, so you can't see the ugly brass nipple.

Dysfnctnl85 06-18-2004 10:00 PM

I'll show you an ugly brass nipple...I mean, since the Tial is backordered until Judgement Day, what's a good alternative?

jspecracer7 06-19-2004 03:12 AM

Davipoo,

Where'd you get the elbow that connects the turbo to the intercooler?

Also, I get my aluminum welding done for $10 a weld....$100 is a$$RAPING. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/blink.png

I got the elbow from Ihor at Gotham Racing.

Thanks Russ, I did luck out and find the brass ones that I needed yesterday.

9BASE3 06-20-2004 01:17 PM

There are a few places online you can get tight radius aluminum elbows to weld to the compressor housing.. I think I may go this route in the near future.. More stuff to polish! https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png I'll dig up some links and post them.

I sure hope you get that thing running right before Saturday... I don't want to be the only one driving an FD up to NJ on Saturday https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png

Fd3BOOST 06-20-2004 08:45 PM

Thanks Drew! It is about 97% done right now. I am waiting to mount he coils and i need one pipe welded and then put my manifold back on then fire her up and drive up to Dees house. I do have one question. Has anyone had any issues with melting the vacum hoses from the wastegate since it is so close to the down pipe?

drew 06-20-2004 09:03 PM

I wish I was in town... I'd come down and help if you needed it...

in Seattle until late Thursday night though... hopefully I'll be able to get the little things done to my car that I need to and clean the damn thing up... it's filthy! https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub..._DIR#>/sad.png

Ditto re the oil return line.

RussellTT94 06-20-2004 10:52 PM

i believe van said he popped a motor when one melted and the boost spiked. i used a 90 on the wastegate hat and pointed the line towards the transmission and ran it up behind the intake manifold. for the port on the side of the wastegate, i used another 90 and pointed it towards the ground, and ran the line under the dump tube.

Fd3BOOST 06-21-2004 07:56 AM

Ok well then I will do the best I can to keep the lines out of the way of the DP. Thats going to be tricky though. I could wrap them and see if that helps. How well does the wrap work?

Dave,

You can get insulating sleeve and it works great. I ran my lines over to the passenger firewall and held them there with a little doohicky. Dunno WTF it's called, but basically it has one screw hole and it holds the lines where you put them.

I haven't had any issues. I'll post up a pic tonight of the little thing-a-ma-bob. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png

The downpipes are aluminized.

No rust issues. I've had mine for like... 7 months and it has no rust. Water, oil, you name it. All is good.

I'm putting it in the mail to a forum member today. He'll be able to vouch. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png

Fd3BOOST 06-21-2004 08:58 AM

Oh another thing I was curious about. The vac line that comes off the LIM, It used to hook up on the Y pipe. Comes out atthe front there near the filler neck. Can I let that vent or does it have to be capped? Is that a direct vac source?

Not sure which one you are referring to.. Got a pic?

Fd3BOOST 06-21-2004 02:17 PM

Thanks Carson, I will cap it.

Fd3BOOST 06-21-2004 08:31 PM

Ok all done. I must have missed something though somewhere buttoning it back up because I couldn't get her to start up and run.

It's dark out already so I have to wait till tomorrow to back track it.

It turned over and if i gas it i could get it to sputter for a few seconds but it dies off it I am not on the throttle. Any ideas what I might likely have missed?

TYSON 06-21-2004 08:48 PM

What fuel pressure?

Stock fuel pressure is 30 psi at idle, your Power FC will be expecting to see only that much.

Fd3BOOST 06-21-2004 09:05 PM

Its getting just under 40psi. You have an idea? please fill me in.

TYSON 06-21-2004 09:09 PM

Way to much gas!

You have about 30% more gas going in then the computer is expecting.

Fd3BOOST 06-21-2004 09:15 PM

LOL, Sent you a pm.

PLEASE feel free to elaborate. I am new to most of my set up so I do not know the ropes yet. If that is too much fuel, is 30psi what I want and I assume that I can tighten the nut on the FPR to drop that down some?

rowtareh 06-21-2004 09:24 PM

Very nice Dave. I shall stop by this week and check it out. How is Thursday?

Fd3BOOST 06-21-2004 10:02 PM

I wont be around tomorrow. Feel free to stop in whenever. I should be around at some point.

Cool. Sounds good. See you around sometime this week. Maybe I can help. Maybe not. I have not even started taking my engine apart yet. LOL.
