That turbo isnt good at boost levels much higher then that. You can thank the T3 footprint....
This is wrong, it isn't even in it's window till 17lbs.

I ran the 35/40 for over a year and got tired of it. Yea I put down 430 @ 16 psi and 470 @ 20psi but the timing was too advanced in my opinion. At the time the ports I had which were supposed to be huge, were garbage. After properly porting the motor and getting tuned by Steve, I never had a chance to dyno again. Something is messed up with the turbo. Steve thinks its the compressor map or something. It would make 15psi by 3500 rpm, but wouldn't pull hard till 6000. By 7500 power was falling off. Its good for the street, but I am looking for something more. All it took is a ride in a properly set up 60-1 car to convice me to sell the garrett.
So are you saying, that 430@16lbs or 470@20psi were bad numbers? You say you think the timing was off and porting was crap, good numbers still against those odds, so then you couldn't dyno it again because the turbo was bad/damaged, you can't follow that with a complete rebuild and new tune and then say this new turbo is better because of it? Don't get me wrong here, I'm not attacking you or flaming you, just saying it's not a good comparison.

Well the most I plan to run this turbo to would probably be 19 psi or so on race gas and I was told this turbo really doesn't become efficient on our motors until about 17psi. But that just may be a difference in opinions. I don't know really but I've heard both sides of that argument before.

They are eff. up to 29lbs.

if it doesnt become efficient UNTIL 17psi then it sounds like the one for me. i'll just have to use 98 octane. id still like to see some 40r numbers first and then decide between that and the 35r.

still not answered... what kind of boost would it be safe to go up to with 93 and with 98?

I think you'd be safe to go to 16 maybe 17 pounds on 93 and then 98 octane would be safe I'd think for another pound or two, but you're probably best off asking Sean as he's more familiar with the kits and what people run with them.

I have run into similar problems in the past that are troubling you guys contimplating different single turbo conversion. My desire to not use nitrous on my car for spool up purposes left me to try to find a turbo that could make good power down low and top end as well. With my 769rwhp turbo I can sacrifice a little more down low then the average guy. But while I was testing many turbo's I came across a turbo that I now reccomend for street/strip usage. It makes over 460rwhp at 14psi with a spoolup that is incredible but still has enough wind to make 620rwhp at 25psi wich is more power then most people are making with there so called race turbos. If you take a look at the dyno chart you will see that during a 4th gear pull we started at 3000rpm and made full boost by 4200rpm wich is incredible. This is not the turbo for people that want to make over 650 as it does run out of wind around that mark. I have been nusing these turbos for over two years with no failures and they have withstood the abuse I put them through. Any one who is interested feel free to check out the dyno sheets for the street/strip kit http://www.kgparts.com/R85.htm or the race kit at http://www.reactiveracing.com I have teamed up with kieth and he will be marketing the kit for me. I am not forcing anyone to buy the kit. I would be more then glad to discuss what made me choose this turbo for any one that wants to chat give me a call the number is in the contact section of my web site.

Is this kit a smaller version of that larger turbo that you made 750+ on?
