Yeah...a little harsh...I've been defending most RX8 owners. There is a small minority doing all the complaining....but they post the most. And they suck. This rage has been building for a long time...

So stay here.

I looked at one at the dealer today, and I gotta tell ya I'd take the new Mazdaspeed Miata over it anyday.

Or a 3 and keep my 7, of course!

yeah all new cars have that "oh it made a noise" or "my brakes are dirty" most of that goes away, i mean the fd guys used to complain about the hood squeaking, and the clicky clicky from rocks getting stuck in the abs wheels but they stopped complaining about that stuff after the motor blew and the paint fell off....

yeah the rx8 forum bugs me too, although i really enjoyed driving the rx8 (its a good track car )

That's funny...hahah That's partly why I have the 8 and not an FD..I just don't have that deep of a wallet, and the patience to deal with all that drama...love the car though...the best looking rotary powered car ever..

And those auto guys are still gay.

Hell yeah! I love the current Miata, and I can't wait to see (and surely fall in love with) the new Mazdaspeed model. IMO the Miata has just gotten better and better, and of all the cars on the market right now I'd take that second, right after an S2000...

As far as the RX-8 goes, with all new cars you get a bunch of yuppie buyers, thats just how things go. Yuppies like new cars. Just like with the FD's, the 8's will filter down to the hands of the enthusiasts. I for one and thankful for the existance of yuppies, as there's no way I could have EVER afforded my FD new from the dealer. I'd take a good deal on a used car over a new car ANY WAY. More money for fun things...

I have a jones for anything with a rotary in it.

My Fd has a soft spot with me but I would love to have an rx-8

Its not supposed to perform like a Fd and I dont see why anyone hould compare the two.

Rx8 is a new car, it looks great, makes decent power is has a comfy interior. Good enough for me. I'll add it to my wish list that contains , Rx2, Rx3,1st gen RX7, White TII, and another Fd but in silver.

They all have character and I like them all for seperate reasons.

Think of it like this. The more RX-8's they can sell, the better the chance of a higher performing version. As great as the FD is, no one bought it. It was a sports car sucess but a showroom failure from a company going broke. The fact a rotary even exists in any passenger car again should be considered a blessing and the fact so many newcomers to the rotary want one is a very good sign. They have already sold twice as many RX8's in 6 months as they did the FD in 3 years.

Perhaps it brings a new type of driver and new crowd to the rotary (of course the 1G sold 500,000 in its lifetime, but that was because it was cheap and fun, which unfortunately, the 3G was very much not cheap), but it allows Mazda more space to cater in the future to the enthusiasts and offer more of what we want. The Mazdaspeed A-Spec and B-Spec in Japan are proof of this and a step in the right direction. Besides, this means new rotary enthusiasts.

I have owned a 83 GSL and a 84 GSL-SE and am happy to be back in a rotary.

yeah i think the fd was a great car but a step in the wrong direction, i mean the 1st gen is cheap and fun, and the fc is more grown up, and then the fd well the fd. the rx8 seems to be more like the fc, where its priced well and fun

Indubitably, I couldn't agree more.

i test drove one... it is nice... the clutch is kinda soft i think.

IMO i think most people expected better perfroamnce. It seems like it was advertised as the replacement for the rx7, since it is the only rotary engine on the market after the FD left.

The styling is... err... looks like a mazda3 with a mazda6 ***.

For the money yes it is a good buy, but it just have the blingness a FD or a FC had back in their prime.
