I was kind of in denial myself, "Yes, thats it, it will pass 5,000 miles and light up the tires!" or is it 20,000?

It is surely no RX-7. Overall, the performance resembles my last rotary, my '73 RX-3!

Jeez, Accords have 240 hp!

Don't know what I will be doing, long term. Maybe joining the line-up to turbo it....

true. if i bought one, i dont know what i would do either. you have a nice new car that handles like a dream, but from a company that lied / too stupid to realize new emissions on a car will hinder performance and fails to admit it.

i dont think i would get the car simply b/c of the front passenger area. i would feel pity for any of my friends that had to sit like a retard simply b/c of the engine/tranny intruding into the foot area. i sat there at the dealer while my mom was doing paperwork on her 6, and i couldn't stand that intrusion for more than a minute.

and to think, the miata and rx7 are going to be on this platform...

"sorry (insert passenger name here), i would light to give you more foot room so you can sit like a normal person, but i prefer a low center of gravity and a 50-50 weight ratio more".

still, i might get on next year after college b/c there's a rotor in there

Look, no one said the RX-8's are crap. If you think we are running around giving each other hi 5's over this you are wrong. I am heartbroken and pissed. It is so cool to see a rotary powered car on the Mazda dealership floor. I love the body style and love the functional back seats. I was only waiting for the Mazdaspeed addition to come out other wise I would have one too.

What I wish you RX-8 owners would refuse Mazda's "payoff" and demand they fix your car and get it the claimed 247 HP. The same way Ford fixed the Cobras. I know I am sounding like a broken record but I feel this is the best thing.

Doctorr and Digisan its so cool to have RX-8 owners on this website. You guys are driving new rotary cars. The rest of us are driving 10+ year old cars. My A/C sucks my windshield wipers suck things on my dash are brittle and crack easily. I used to have a cassette deck in my dash there are rust spots on my sunroof. You get the point. Hell! I am almost talking myself into getting one.

Haha "it's got to be a Corvette killer". Why do people want to make the rx8 something it isn't? Its not an rx7 and its not a sports car!

To make it clear again, I don't hate the car. I just dislike the sportscar image everyone tries to portray it as, and the lower horsepower than excepted is a turn off. Nice looking car though.

I think he was being sarcastic. He was trying to say not everyone wants a Corvette killer it not that important to him. Of course this is coming from a guy that probably never owned a car that fast.

If this was so important to me then why did I buy a CooperS its probably slower than the RX-8,....maybe.

John Cooper Works kit is on backorder. I ordered it but will have to wait 4-8 weeks to get in installed. It will be cool to feel the car before and after the install.

i'm not sure about the Cobra, but when the SVT contour was released it lacked HP... i think 20 to 30 hp i can't remember.

Ford ended up making brand new redesigned heads to make up for the extra power.

Not that in my opinion is caring, it shows FORD's commitment to their cusotmers and cars. I'm sure it costs FORD a helluva a lot more dollars to redesign heads, prototype, test, and to setup the factory to do it.

Mazda corp. is genius. They are goign to pull this off all the RX-8 owners are happy to just get a $500 check and service plan and drive their 210 HP cars and forget they were supposed to have 247 HP.

I give up! I was just on the RX-8 forum and they are fighting over this fact. They want the $500.
