Last summer my 87 N/A motor let go on me, the rear rotor grenaded itself and destroyed the rotor and housing with gouges from the broken seals.

I am now looking into either rebuilding the original motor, or looking to swap in a Turbo II motor. The problem that I have with swapping the Turbo II motor in is that it would me a JDM motor because I am not able to find a US spec motor for sale.

I have searched this, and was not able to find anything (maybe my key words were wrong). If I have the motor, harness, and ECU to go with the car, will I have any problems with the ECU since the rest of the harness is US spec and not Japanese spec?

Thanks for you time.

If you're going to get a JDM clip. Take EVERYTHING from the clip and install it on your s4. Absolutely everything. Because you KNOW it will work that way. you DONT know if it will work with some of your stuff.. some of the JDM stuff.. I mean yeah, its a bitch ( sort of ) to put an s5 into an s4, but hey. what have you ever gotten that was worth having that was easy?

The real problem that I am worried about is if the J-Spec ECU will work with my US-Spec gauge cluster? I can get aftermarket water temp, oil pressure, and boost pressure, but I am only worried about the spedo working correctly. Other than tha, everything else should work together.

Thanks for the input.

oh yes there will b a lot of computer harness' adn other electrical stuff taht will not hook up..mainly dealing with the intrument panel and also u will need a dif driveshaft..u can use the old N/A fine..i know a few people taht have beefed up TII and still run the N/A stock trans

i was recently goign to put a 1989 13b TII JDM motor in my 88 N/A and i ran into all those problems and it would cost a few extra hundred bucks just o get it all hooked up and running descent..so i didnt bother..but there are definitley peopel out there with taht swap
