Hey guys. I can clear up a few things for you. Firstly, first gen rx7 struts sound to be what you have in your 323 (sorry, GLC's are called 323s in Australia, so that's what I'm used to calling them). They are a common swap, but as you have found, not necessarily a good one. They will lower the front a couple of inches, and also give you a little positive camber (top of the wheel sits further out in the guard than the bottom) which is not good for handling. This can be corrected through the use of a custom spring and redrilling the crossmember (to push the control arm out) and/or custom strut tops (to move the top of the strut in). Rx3/808 struts will bolt straight in, as will Rx4 struts if the strut top is changed, or the strut tower redrilled to 4 stud (same as rx7). Neither of these have the height or camber issues of the Rx7 struts, but the brakes aren;t as good either.

In Australia, rotary swaps into 323s are reasonably common, although not as common as they are in New Zealand. Try www.ausrotary.com for some info, there is heaps in the tech section on there about 323s. I personally am currently building my second rotary 323, with a 12at, as a street and circuit car. They're good cars, can handle very well and are lighter than most Rx's. Hope some of this helps you guys out.

I guess the car will need some 2" spacers. At least the Racing Beat 1st gen springs are compatible. I don't know of any aftermarket springs for RX-3,4 struts.

Do you mean spacers for the top of the strut? Aftermarket springs for Rx3s, Rx4s and even 323s are fairly readily available in Australia, and you can have custom springs made to your specs for not much money as well. You could always convert the strut to a coilover type using a weld on coilover sleeve, that would give you the ability to keep the ride height up and cheaply change between spring stiffnesses.
