and yes a 15l turbo diesel engine

I wasn't implying you were - sorry if it sounded like that https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png

GreyGT-C - We were at the race track and he was taking pics of my race's. He went back to motor home to go to bathroom and had it in his hands or something and he said it sliped out into the toilet.

Ok no more disel talk I know my dad has a 750ftlb TQ cummins turbo disel. However tq is a by product of HP, they share hand and hand based on design of motor.

thagr81 us - Yea man keep and eye on it as seen there is another 13b mx5 person in this thread so it should get good. Just memeber this is not a honda swap and big numbers on a mx5 will require alot of fabing so best of luck.

Torque is force x distance

Horsepower is force x distance x time

Torque doesn't require the shaft to be spinning, horsepower does for work to be accomplished within time

Torque is no biproduct

Yea. There's quite a few of them over at Miata.net who have done it. I already have a pretty good layed out plan for the swap and supporting stuff to make it all go as smooth as possible. Plus fabbing isn't a big deal since my old roommate works for his dad who owns a fabrication shop. So I'm pretty much set when it comes to that stuff. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png

Iceblue do you still want some measurements I just read your post on the other thread. Or did the pictures do the trick.

HP = The amount of work done over a period of time.

TQ = The instantaneous amount of force delivered in FT lbs.

TQ and HP are a byproduct of a design. No matter what you do to the motor the 2 forces will follow a specific curve.

13bturbomx5 - I have not looked at the pics yet but I would love some measurements to base against.

13bturbomx5 - Pics where wonderfull alot of them were along the lines I have been working and some gave me some ideas thank you. I would love some measurements to base against.

right

torque is NOT a biproduct of horsepower as you previously stated

mazdaspeed7 10-07-2005 09:45 AM

Horsepower is an imaginary number. There is no way to measure it, you derive it from 2 variables that you can measure, torque and time. That would make horsepower a byproduct of torque.
