Some members of this forum have asked me to share my mx5 project so I will. In this thread will be some pics of what’s going on and some commentary to it. When the project is completed I will give a stronger documentation for toughs wishing to do so, including measurements I used.

My uncle dropped my camera in the toilet, now I have to buy a new one but I will dazzle you with some of my chasse work for now. Enjoy and much more coming soon.

I will have someone’s camera I can use in a few days and I will get you some driveline shots and maybe drop the motor in position to show the line up.

The exhaust DP will catch the sub frame so either a custom DP will have to be made or notch in the sub frame walls some. The drive shaft comes out to only be around 1.5ft long. This should be good for some extra tq for the motor.

We have decided to tub the rear end of this car to hold the HP goals to the ground and remove the internal gas tank to a fuel cell. The car will not be emissions legal but street driven

We are moving forward next week I believe in mounting the motor in its chosen position. The 13b does give the option of setting the motor back farther for bettor weight distribution. This includes knocking the fire wall back some. I am opting out of this I think. I will take final measurements next week for the GT42R and see if there will still be enough room up front.

The pic looks like an n/a block, so are you tuning an n/a with a turbo? Or did I miss something? Keep with the updates, sounds like it'll be an awesome car.

R.P.M. - Steve Kan. Nahh, that's like saying any 13b Iron will crack under boost the only part that sees sufficient boost stress is the port edges and im going P-port but the housings and rotors will see allot of boost stress but they will be fine its been done hundreds of times. I don't consider 17 to 22psi much stress just requires good tuning for pump gas.

Rob x-7 - Not really and those pics do not show any of it I am waiting on a family member to come back into town to barrow there camera so I can show you guys. What was done is the markings and mounts for sub frame braces, Tranny braces and the mounts for the rear diff. I am trying to avoid any more modifications I believe it can be made unneeded to modify the firewall and shifter hole and I am trying to do this and allow fitment for that turbo

Use your MX5 5 speed transmisson, I wouldn't waste time fabbing new RX7 transmission mounts

The input shaft is 15/16" x 22 spline, so is the N/A RX7, just swap the bellhousing and bolt the block up, then fab mounts
