Is there any advantage to using higher torque values for the tension bolts than recommended by the factory?

thx

Ok Ill post this very important information for free, just cause I love this forum...

When rebuilding any engine with used sidehousings, always, I mean always clean the threads that the tension bolts thread into. This is very important since the grime and dirt will not allow you to get proper engine torgue. I run a metric TAP. the original thread on the side housing is 10MM by 1.25 thread. Just run the tap with some WD-40 on every single hole. This will clean the threads on the sidehousings and allow proper engine torque.

Ill be sneaking in and out this forum preriodically and helping my fellow rotorhead brothers out...

Thanks JR!!!

In the Navy-Nuke-Submarine world we had that process beaten into us, so much thats its second nature. Remember Anti-Seize is also essentional to getting a true torque value also.

And another thing: When was the last time any of us sent a Torque Wrench out to be calibrated? Especially if you have dropped it or had it banging around your tool box.

i remember one time at the dealership they compared 3 torque wrenches, oh sorry it was compression testers, but anyways. they had a new one, a used one and a used but recalibrated one. they were all different by the specs for what ever they tested, food for thought.

I could have sworn it was 1mm pitch not 1.25mm.
