I'm new here, so Hi everyone...now to my question

What R the benefits to doing a Cosmo port job? Also how close are the specs of the FD motor compared to the Cosmo anyway?

What about the manifold for your port job, r u gonna do a custom manifold, just stick with the stock FD or use a cosmo one?

BTW anyone have any detailed info they can give me on the REW and RE motor would be great (i.e. a site or faq or something). I've been interested in the RE motor but havnen't had much luck uncovering info.

Here is the difference in the FD (small) center plate port and the Cosmo (big) port

As they use to say during NFL football, "YOU MAKE THE CALL"

Well, I can't tell you because I am doing the opposite I suppose if an FD center plate will fit in my Cosmo, a Cosmo center plate will fit in an FD There are some differences though.



1. The oil neck is angled different. I heard you just hammer on them and pull them out so you can adjust them. http://www.rx7turbo.com/projectcosmo/topcompare.jpg



2. There is no "crankcase" vent tube on the FD center plate so you would have to put a catch can on the Cosmo tube. (see above link)



3. There are no holes tapped in the FD center plate for the mount I think? It should matter in your case but mine it is an issue because I use those for my mount.

Talk about an iceberg in your engine That is what can happen if you let your car sit for a year WITH coolant in it but the coolant decides to separate

It is collecting dust in my garage with the guts of the engine on the shelf. I sourced a used FD center plate that I will fit in place of the deceased Cosmo plate. Now I just need to scrape up the funds to buy a full rebuild kit and possibly machine the rotors for 3mm only because I think the seal whacked the groove. It will most definitely be running by next summer.
