is it too much trouble to ask you for a rough rundown of the process you used to do that? i've been trying to get some information in the last few weeks but it doesn't seem like many know or care to share on polishing rotors.



if it's too much, i understand, but if it's not ... then just a list of stuff would suffice, i'm sure i can figure out what to do.

i've been using ceramic stuff on exhaust ports, piston domes, and combustion chambers on turbo race motors for about 2 years now. It makes a big difference on how the turbo performs. It spools faster and holds heat better. For a NA motor, its a waste of time and money especially for the street

Your fine, I did the dish on mine as well as clearenced where the dish starts. On S4 they differ quite a bit. I then made each rotor the exact same weight by taking the same ammout from each corner. I think what your calling "flaking" is just some discoloration. I never noticed anything that could "flake" on the surface.

yeah ... that looks like discoloration. unless the rotor was not cleaned well and there's some carbon residue left, there should be nothing to flake.



i noticed that while i was polishing my rotors, i'd get some discoloration on some occasions when my oily fingers touched the surface - not sure why, but so it seemed. maybe that's what happened there.

 

Each rotor is balanced with its own weight.When you remove material you should get each rotor rebalanced. the high RPM and weight change at speed tend to make the imbalance more.

I saw the difference on a static balancer after ******* with one of my test rotors.

Maybe nothing but FYI.
