new guy....
#1
Hey y'all!
I'm brand new here... and to Rotaries. Like many others, I'm no stranger to piston motors, but the Wankel kinda baffles me... so I'm lookin' forward to learnin.
I have a new project I'm workin' on, and it has a VERY small engine bay, as well as being a very light car in the first place. I was looking at Aluminum V8's, but a buddy of mine is all about these Rotaries in the airplanes he and his group build..... so I thought I'd check it out.
I think I'll spend a little time lurkin' around, using the search button, posting questions here and there, etc.... but since I need to have 15 posts in order to start ASKING questions... I thought I'd start here!
Basically, the info I'll be looking for specifically is thing slike:
weight?
dimensions?
Which motor to start with if I'm looking for ballpark 400RWHP
carb'd vs FI
what's all this gonna cost me?
you get the picture. Basically things to help me make-up my mind one way or the other....
thanks for all your help!

You shouldn't need 15 posts to ask questions in the technical sections:
I'm moving this to the building and porting section, you should get a bunch of answers there.
Welcome to nopistons!
you will have access to the regular General Discussion, For Sale Sections and the Shoutbox after 15 posts. However you can view Generall Discussion, but not reply [in GenD] until you get the 15 posts.

Welcome. Between this site and rx7club.com, you're in the right place for being a new person and asking questions.
- S4 to S6 13BT Turbo will work
- FI, not carb; take advantage of the precision control FI lends
- A few to several thousand bucks.

I would try to stay away from S4 turbo if you are wanting 400rwhp. They can start to break rear plates at the dowel pin under the oil filter around those power levels.
The power level in and of itself won't do it. It's if the engine encounters knock. Even so with the newer engines, if it encounters knock at that level, it runs the risk of losing compression by way of flattening springs.
