hey 13btnos, rodriguez crashed his new car last month testing for fast fours jamboree, smashed it up good.
Yeah seen the pics of it too bad for him. I sure wish that Cougar would have ran it's potential looks like it would have been a good one. Well hopefully Anthony gets it all sorted out and get's back to the track. Hey atleast he came out alright. I just got an email from Rocky from Pac Performance:
"They are made from a steel material that is top secret
They come in 2mm and 3mm dual spring configuration
All I know is that they are unbreakable and cost $1200 for a set of 6
Regards"
I have contacted 3 persons who are using these seals and claim the same. That they are unbreakable and the material is top secret. And they are steel not ceramic. Hopefully more information will come around about these seals.

I have a theory there is one place in North America cranking out these seals, and about a dozen shops selling them under their own name....They all seem to have the same lack of machining in specific areas..

all the top name drag cars that go 6 seconds really dont have to worry about the longevity rotor housings, hell, those engines get rebuilt less than 20 miles of use (that would be 80 1/4mile runs) hehe thats not enough time to wear the housings out, so for them, the harder the seals are, the better.
for us that are not sponsored or us that expect to see more than 100 miles from our engines... softer, housing friendly seals are the best way to go. seals are cheap, housings are expensive.
Martin, your stock seals will wipe out your rotorhousings just as quick.
If its gonna blow up badly, your gonna be fucked no matter what seal is in the engine.
Stock for me please.

in my own opinion.. carbon seals are the most housing friendly seal there is.. as for ceramics.. well.. they are lightwieght, which is definitely good, but they can tak out your housings as well, I use ceramic lathe bits at work... they cut WAY faster than carbide bits, and those things are way faster than steel bits... I'd be intersted in trying a 10mm carbon/aluminum seal that the old 10A engines used.. on the chromium newer housings, I think it woudl be a pretty good combination.. not for seal longevity, but more for housing wear.. BTW, the 10A seals were 1 piece, 10mm seals. the carbon will never wear out your rotor housing, they are light enough that at 10mm they still aren't really heavy.. and if one gets jammed up in your exhaust port.. it'll probably just disintegrate without even leaving a nick

i dont have stock seals
i meant wearing out, not damaged from broken seals..... meaning, rotary aviation seals are known to wear out the chrome after several thousand miles, or sometimes less. now if the motors are rebuilt in less time than that... do you even have to worry about the chrome being worn out?

Anytime you beef a component up, the weakness of the supporting component(s) will become apparent

Well if Abel Ibarra, Anthony Rodriguez (Mazsport) and Rocky Rahem (Pac Performance) is using them they can't be too bad. If you follow rotary drag racing scene then you know who the aboved mentioned racers are Abel Ibarra 6 second 20b, Anthony Rodriguez has been building high powered rotarys for a long time, Rocky Rahem 6 second 20b also. The seals are from Australia but they have a distributor in Puerto Rico. And Puerto Ricans are known to have some high powered rotarys. Don't know anything about these seals still trying to find some info on them. Their site is kind of vague on the info for the seals. But found out that a set of 2mm 13b seals can be had for $1150 USD. That's in the price range of ceramic seals. Nothing wrong with looking into new seals. I wish someone would come up with better side and corner seals. Everyone seems to concentrate on the apex seals but with the strength of apex seals being upped other things will go, like side seals. Hell I've seen intermediate plates cracked along with housings but nothing wrong with having better seals.
If they are $1150, I bet not many people in PR are using them, and that is a FACT LOL!
