The TB is definitely worth it. I suspect the rest of the intake is as well.

This is something I offer.

Well, i got everything back together but i couldnt tell any gains because my car still won't rev past 5k, i think it might be cats. But if i replace those then there's no way to know how much power i got off of intake. Damnit, i'm pissed off.

BDC, have you dynoed an engine with that Tb yet? Hows idle, cold start up?

Cold start-up is affected. Instead of a 3krpm startup, there's 1500rpm or so with the use of the ABSV on top of the upper intake manifold. Other than that, no detrimental effects. I've done well over 30 TB modifications like this although I've never had any back to back (Before and After) dyno comparisons. I've yet to find anyone willing to do it. The modification is very, very, very much worth doing.

Kahren, have you actually spent the time to try out ported manifolds? And whats the point on skimping on the details. Its the little things that make a big difference in drivability.

J9, thats the same as saying a TID is a bad idea because the turbo cant really move any more air, per your reasoning. Care to explain the double standard?

FYI, all of the runners narrow down at the flanges. If you port match the runner at the flanges, then the runner will be a consistent size throughout. Wheres the problem with that?
the turbo is maxxed out, tid will gain you a little power and a lot of response, but the turbo will just die quicker.

i'm not disagreeing with you, on an na it seems to help, and on a t2 it will with a larger turbo

you still have your t2?

I can see the point youre trying to make, but it still falls under EXACTLY the same sort of thing as the TID and TB mod. Whiel the results may be minimal at first due to other variables(turbo), its still worth some power, and how many people with TII's here actually plan on keeping the stock turbo for the rest of the cars life? And arent those the same people who would keep it nearly completely stock anyways? Why wait until a larger turbo to do it though? Its not hard to do, nor is it espensive. And there are still gains, even with the stock turbo, even though the full potential is not being realized.

I still have my TII, but not for long. I no longer have the time nor want to restore it.

BDC's TB mod more than anything else will help with revving. Stock TB is horribly restrictive and your car will breath much much better at low rpms. With the TB mod done you might notice that while revving in neutral more boost will build.

That's one positive effect of it, yes. It has many more. I've got it more fully explained here. Sorry for it being although it does have something to do with your question in general:
