I decided to rip my UIM and TB off and see if i could get any free HP out of them. But i have a few questions.



1.) When port matching the UIM and LIM how high should i port up into the uim?



2.) The metal thing that goes onto the TB right after the stock intercooler. Can i try to port it and polish that or should i not mess with that because it effects how evenly the air is split between the TB holes?



3.) I'm thinking about porting the inside of the TB itself adn. Any comments on this? And even it out.



4.) All in all will any of this porting mess with my powerband much? If so, how.

i doubt u will get if any HP out of teh items you are thinking of porting, esp on a turbo motor there are many other places u can find free hp

Thats stupid. Anything you can do to increase flow by decreasing restrictions will make hp, period. Port matching IS worth some power, as the runners narrow down at the flanges.

Do you think it would net some HP on a N/A engine?

I think youre asking the wrong person. Its definately worth some hp on a n/a. The power increase I felt was comparable to my full exhaust. Put simply, its definately noticable.

what i meant to say is, if you want to waste your time porting and polishing your intake manifold on otherwise stock engine and get that extra couple HP then tahts fine go ahead and do that, i rather not waste my time when you can simply get a downpipe in fraction of the time it takes to dissaamble a stock T2 intercooler assembly and take off teh pieces mentioned above and get multiples of that power gainded from those mods.

what i ment to say is there is power to be gained EASIER in other ares of the car then doing the portign and polishing. if you are BROKE and somehow ended up with a dremel and a few bits and have nothign better to do with your time but port and desperately need that last juice then go ahed and do that.

That's exactly what i'm doing. I ran out of money so i'm doing all the lil free stuff until i get more money. And i'm gonna go dyno it after i get the stuff done to see how much power i really got also.

yeah the stock fc turbo wont let anymore air out than it already is, so its silly to make the intake bigger. its like putting headers on an na vs the cat replacement pipe, you only gain .3hp cause before the air comes out of the enigine its gonna be able to go in

Kahren, have you actually spent the time to try out ported manifolds? And whats the point on skimping on the details. Its the little things that make a big difference in drivability.



J9, thats the same as saying a TID is a bad idea because the turbo cant really move any more air, per your reasoning. Care to explain the double standard?



FYI, all of the runners narrow down at the flanges. If you port match the runner at the flanges, then the runner will be a consistent size throughout. Wheres the problem with that?
