GSL/Se housing to 2nd Gen rotor compatability
#1
Hi to all ! I am putting together a 13b steet port motor with 1st gen 13b housings and RX4 irons and because I have a complete rotating assembly out of a 91 2nd gen (9.7:1)I was wondering if I can use that instead of the the Rx4 rotating assembly ? according to Racing Beat they dont recommend it due to slight differences in the early housings compared to the newer ones.
can anyone shine some light on this if it stands true or not .
thanks

over the years, i have yet to get a definitive answer on this, but so far it seems that using newer rotors in older rotor housings is not a problem. so you shouldn't have a problem.
with that said, i've never heard of a problem occuring when people have used older rotors in newer housings (8.5s in REWs and such) either.

i built a motor exactly like you suggest, stock gsl-se block, with a 9.7 rotating assembly. i installed the engine in 2004, and it regularly beats s2000's in the mountains, it gets driven HARD and its been fine.
if you're unsure, mock it up and check the clearances.
