I took my front pulley off and forgot to mark it. How do I line it up again so I can set my timing? Thanks

aim the keyway in the e-shaft towards the exhaust and the timing marks should be close to the pin that sticks out of the front cover

12a pulleys are a pain that way. If your distributor is still in and was set correctly (or close at least), you can rotate the motor until the distributor rotor points to L1 on the cap. Then put the pulley on with the mark facing up.

Using the key on the eshaft is a good way also, but only if you want to remove the front eshaft bolt, which I don't recommend unless you have to.

You know, people say there are 4 ways the 12a pulley can go on, but actually, there are only 2, so you've got a 50/50 chance of getting it right just from guessing.

So if i'm off will it hurt the engine? I don't want to take the e-shaft bolt out. When i start it if I think the timing is off I will remove and install pulley again. Sound good?

on 86+ the pulley holes are on an offset so you can't put it wrong unless you force it.
