It should be pretty obvious which front covers are for 1st gens because they mount to a bracket that bolts to the crossmember. There are 4 bolt locations on the front cover used to hold it to the bracket.

2nd Gens have a CAS/Distributor hole but no front mounts for the 1st gen style engine mount
So RECAP
1st Gen - 4 big bolt holes for the engine mount, and a CAS/Dizzy hole
2nd Gen - No bolt holes, just a CAS/Dizzy hole
3rd Gen - No bolt holes, no hole
So RECAP
