None!!....dont port any closer towards the E-shaft than it is stock.

You'll be porting into the Oil control rings path and it would make no difference.

Look at how wide your oil control ring is Joe. It's not like it's gonna fall in. I'm just too lazy to partially assemble things right now to see if it would actually open the port up or if the rotor would simply cover it. Guess I'll just have to check it out.

No, but you'd effectively have only one oil ring when the side of the rotor swings over the intake port and applies manifold vacuum to that area.

MMM ive seen motor done in japan where they have ported half the width of outter oil control ring in. But the motor was smokey, and when pulled down the rest looked low mileage. Porting inwards would have to affect the life of outter oil ring. The side plates were not used again .

It's the oring that does the sealing between the oil and the combustion the metal ring is just there to hold it. I wasn't planning on going more than .060 of an inch or so. Not a big deal just a thought. Anyway it would only be a small portion of the ring that didn't have complete support. Nobody has tried this?

The O-ring seals the oil control ring to the rotor, however it doesn't seal the oil from the side of the rotor, that is the job of the scraper.

LOTS of people have tried it. Then they learn why Mazda put two oil rings per side instead of just one.

I'm aware that's what the scraper is for. So what do you think will happen? Maybe smoke? Don't get me wrong ,I see your point. I'm gonna try it on my spare engine and we'll find out. Wouldn't do it on the customers that's for sure. Thanks for the input.
