I have a ton of questions about rebuilding my 87 turbo. My engine has 200k with a blown coolant seal. At this point I am sure I need new housings. I looked at cemet coated housings and resurfaced factory chrome housings. Anyone know about the reliability of cemet coated housings or resurfaced chrome housings? I am either going to attempt the rebuild myself or use Pineapple Racing, Banzai or Rotary Resurrection. Any recommendations of any midwestern engine builders? I live in St. Louis. Anyone know if the latter two are reputable shops? I will use a factory rebuild kit from Mazdatrix or maybe a kit from RWS. Any info on whether the RWS seals work well or not? I also looked into buying a JDM engine? My thought is that these engines have probably seized at this point after sitting for years and would be a bad choice since none of the importers offer a warranty? Anyone had any long term success w/JDM engines? Will they bolt directly to existing harness and ecu?
