What kind of cost would I be looking at to rebuild an engine with 150k miles on it? I want to port my engine, and i have to rebuild it in order to do that. It has good, even compression (like 100 psi or so), and doesn't smoke at all, even on cold starts, but i figure the bearings and stuff probably need replacing at that kind of mileage.

Second question: If I port the exhaust a lot, and mildly port the intake (keeping the 6 port), can I achieve 200 crank hp with bolt ons?

If your car was looked after properly, you can get another 50k miles easy. The cost of the rebuild can only be determined on teardown since you don't know how many parts are in spec.

well, I just want to port it, and since you have to rebuild to port, that 's why I'm asking. I'm not another one of those dumbshit kids that thinks their engine will die because it's a rotary.

Honestly, I wish every night that I could somehow port it without disassembling it, but that's just impossible.

I just wanted to know what I would most likely have to spend when I pull it apart.

Your gonna be spending apx $800 for the gaskets and seals.

The porting tools are about $40 for the burs and $30 for the die grinder,

Of coarse your gonna need an air compressor also.

Sometimes you can buy a rebuild kit on ebay form someone who decided against doing it themselves or didnt need it.

That is the cheapest way.

Or call Malloy Mazda down in Woodbridge and buy the parts from them.
