cleaning engine internals

If ya didn't have a parts cleaner what would ya use to clean of carbon build up ???

Is it ok to use white spirits or somethimg like that ??

Take the goodies to a shop with a parts cleaner and ask them how much to run it in thiers a few times.

I use kerosene. Use a wire brush on the heavy deposits, a nylon brush works fine on the lighter deposits.

Thanks guy's the only rotary mechanic in ireland told me to use paint stripper I wanna do it over christmas so useing a parts cleaner wont be happening Cant wait to see the block back together

Dont use paint stripper, it wont work as good as a solvent, and its very nasty stuff to work with. Chemical burns if you get it on your skin, and theres always a chance it could damage some parts. Kerosene works great, and its cheaper than paint stripper.

Maybe he said to use a paint thinner like mineral spirits. It works well and for a few dollars more you can get low odor mineral spirits
