I have built my first turbo II motor, I used a racing beat port plate on the primary or the middle piece. I cleaned and polished the outer housings ports. My question is should this be a lumpy idle motor, I cant get it to idle smooth or below 1000rpm . This is my first motor and I have high expectations. Oh ya I just slightly extended the port a little higher just a fraction. Also the exhaust ports I d'ed out just a little.

any help is appreciated

The engine should have a smooth idle. Check for vacuum leaks, or the engine might be running to rich at idle..

on a stock 87-88 turbo 2 if the idle mixture screw is full rich you have a vacuum leak. they are very picky about vacuum leaks. you also might want to put a timing light on it and double check

My idle sounded like a cammin' v8 until I discovered my new injectors were high impedance, on a low impedance car, it was running very rich. If you've changed injectors double check that you have the right impedance, if they're high, and you have a resistor pack

for low impedance injectors still on the harness you need to bypass it.

After I corrected that everything was much better, does your car seem to be running rich at idle? smoking and stinking?

all very good points thanks, all of you. once i get the motor BACK together again Ill check all of that especially since i have RC eng 550 injectors for primarys. Yeah a piece of the metal that keeps the seal in place broke off into the water jacket. Thank god I just happen to have a spare center housing. I'll try again.
