By the sight, the greater advantage is the weight.

A greater investment, "smaller" benefits?

[quote name='Il RX8 lI' date='Aug 19 2005, 11:46 AM']If they cost extra, wouldn't Mazda nix using them because of more cost? Seems like they did just that to the driveshaft of the FD, they wanted to make it aluminum for less rotating mass but the higher ups threw it out.

What Mazda needs to do is reduce the weight of the rotary even further and put it into something the size of a Miata. I wish they would just put a rotary into a Miata. I just don't understand there thinking of putting a small engine into such a large car like the RX8. Sorry I have a rotary powered Datsun 1200 and the biggest car I've owned with a rotary would probably be an RX3 but the '85 gslse I had probably weighed more than the RX3. Sorry to jack this thread. So back to the aluminum side housings. Yeah I wish I had the money for them. LOL.

Aaah you like my avatar! Yeah that car is my favorite one besides David Turbo's Datsun 1200. What ever happened to David Turbo?

I think it would be the next great seller for Mazda. The problem is, what would they call it now that they're wanting to denote all rotary powered things RX and normal engine powered cars MX and SUVs/Vans something else (CX I think...) I've done a little speculation and maybe MX-R or something...

Call it an RX-Miata for all I care I just want to see the rotary in something lighter. Oh and offer it in a hard top version I'm not to fond of convertibles.

I'm talking about a fixed roof not a removeable top. I think the removeable hardtops on the Miata look goofy. The older ones looked really goofy but the newer ones aren't too bad. I want something like this http://www.rx7club.com/showthread.ph...81#post4680781

Now that's what I'm talking about but without the $40,000+ price of an Elise.
