73 12a dual dizzy rebuild
#13
cool. I am going to build my twin dizzy 12a for a full PP. But I will use a 1st gen rear iron.
I'm pretty sure the apex seals will be fine, corner seals too. But i am unsure of the side seals. I am guessing I could use a regular outer side seal from a newer 12a, but what about the inner side seal?

mazda usa chose to supply the same side seal part number for ALL of the pre 86 engines with the 1011-23-151 part. which is the longer of the dual side seals. there is a side seal for the 74-85 engines, 8871-23-151, but its a competition part in the USA
so basically that's why when you order the 1011 seals for your normal 12A they are way too long

If i get the 1011-23-151 side seal, would i even need the shorter, inner seal?
If i make it a tight .001-.002 clearance, I probly would be good without the inner seal. Unless it serves another purpose i am not aware of?
