Are there any advantages of running a 3mm apex seal with dual springs like the fc and fd? It would be for my TII. I've heard of people doing this and was wondering if its worth the time.

Nope, total waste of time and money. Stock seals are the best. Will handle over 800rwhp.

there was a time where people reported that the oem seals gave up around 400 hp, since mazda changed the material due to the rx-8 production. any news on this? are the stock seals "ok again" ?

There was never a problem. Some people blamed the apex seals when they can't tune for ****.

If using 3mm apex seals, then one spring per seal.

when i tore down my motor about a year after i bought it. I found it was rebuilt with 3mm seals, and it was dual-spring.

there are such things as 3mm dual-spring seals, mine were of a 2-piece design. I know a place (other then hurley) that makes them but i dont know anyone who's used their seals before so im just going with rotarya viation single spring 3mm seals on my current rebuild.

Goes something like this: "Lol Ted, turn up the boost." *BOOM!* "OMG, crappy apex seals!"

I would actually want to run the 2mm seals but my rotors are out of wack. And i bought a 3mm 89 TII engine at a very cheap price. I will tare it all down and rebuild it. The engine was suppose to be built by Tri point engineering.
