Porting A 6 Port Engine
#21
Here in the Northwest,we don't usually port the sixport motors cause the stock induction does not flow enugh air to make any good hp,and then you can't pass deq either. on dave atkins 10 sec allmotor car? i haven't seen it.when i go to Seattle raceway, the only cars that i have seen are his 17 sec supercharged cosmo lol,and a 14 sec supercharged 1st gen. he was surprised to see that a P-Port in a streetcar would run a mid 12,all motor, full int,w/ full exh.they biuld some pretty bizzar stuff ,but it all seems to be slow for what it is.

That is a interesting comment you made about tunning a 6 port vs a 4 port motor. I have been boosting a 86 n/a motor for the last 9 months with a T3 60-1 at 19-21 psi with good resutls I feel. 11.61et at 124.89mph with 1.89 60 foot. 400rwhp. car weighs 2720lbs. For the last month I have since changed my set up to a T4 T66 .96a/r p-trim, 86 turboII motor with large street ports and small bridge on the the secoundaries. 23psi. This set up seems slower and less responsive. Yes the higher rpm range is nice but the trottle response is not the same. My ET times seem to be the same but my mph is down a few.12.01et at 123mph with a 2.05 60 foot. No I did not clearance everything inside, did use the atkins two peice seals. Shifting at 7500rpm's. A/F ratio is a little richer, egt temps are 50-100f deg lower. Timing, air temp and water temp are the same. Any advise would be thankful. sorry to ask questions on some elses post.

[quote name='Judge Ito' date='May 11 2003, 06:23 AM']I have been porting some 6 port engines lately. I've been trying to make some ports that would make some decent power. So far one seriously bridgeported 6 port engine that I made is making some very impressive power. The only down side is the rough idle. Some people love the brap, brap, brap, some people don't. I recently put together a wild street ported 6 port engine, but no dyno numbers yet. I'm currently building another wild ported 6 port 1990 engine and Ill try to post results on that engine.

any results on those 6-port streetports?

I know that combining the secondaries and aux ports is a bad idea for street engines, but I'm building an engine that will only be used in autocross. I am making my own manifold w/ Hayabusa ITB's so the whole system will have pretty high flow. I want my redline to be somewhere around 8500 so I want my peak to be around 8000. Since I can't keep the 5 & 6th port actuators working anyway, would I benefit from hogging out the secondary and aux ports into one big port? I don't see the point of keeping them divided if my runner from the manifold is undivided. Thanks.
