I was doing 0-400m with some drifting before Initial D came out, then one of my Japanese friends showed me Initial D.......I thought it was cool that someone made a cartoon about drift and that was about the end of it. You know they have hade **** Anime for a long long time but It doesn't compare to actually doing it either and I never got into **** anime either.

I doubt it'll ever get that mainstream though because U.S. roads are all so crappy that in a way its preventative unmaitenance. There isn't a single road in my town i could drift on that doesnt have a huge pothole or crack in the road awaiting you after a turn or an extremely low shoulder.

Uhhh have you ever seen the roads in Japan.........hahaha THEY SUCK!!!! they are narrow .....some banked the wrong way, increasing radius corners there is always some kind of frikin meadian in the middle and Potholes........ahah that is an understatement. You just get used to it and that is how you become really good, cuz the track is a little more forgiving in those aspects. I say it sure beats watching a damn cartoon and dreaming about something your scared to try.

I think road conditions in general suck no matter where you go. I've been deployed all over the place, and roads are screwed up in every country.

I really thought about it though and initial D makes no sense at all. They race to see who can finish first yet they drift corners which is slower than normally driving. Therefore wouldnt you be able to win much easier if you didnt drift? Maybe they explained it in the anime but that part kinda confuses me.

Hitting the apex of a corner may be more efficient, but the drift looks better in the cartoon. And it is intended for entertainment purposes. Looking to it for technical advice is like looking to the Fast and the Furious for tech help.
