I started in an industrial area. There was a really nice left turn to a right hand turn (both were like 80 degrees). It is was long and very wide so it gave me the oppotunity to build up my speed going through the corner sans the worry of immovable objects. Find something like that without cops around and you're golden. Parking lots work too i guess but it doesn't quite feel the same.
Yeah i dont like doing it in lots. Its better when you have something to drift around.

Purchase some cones and use them at the parking lot. It's the best way to learn.

just be cautious of cops. They like to really pick on difters. Any time you break the tires loose, it can be called reckless driving. And they sure like to give those out. If youre in a parking lot they cant give you a ticket, BUT the owner of the lot can press charges against you for distruction of property.

This isent drifing related but still a good question. Since breaking your tires loose ins considered reckless driving, what do they call it when you chirp em really hard. when i shift into second and third, but mostly second i get a relly really loud chirp. I didnt even relize how loud it was till i heard it from out side the car while RBTech was driving. Can that be considerd reckless driving if a cop hears that?

yup. If he wants to be an ******* he can write that. You'd probably be able to get out of it, however it would still be a huge pain in the ***.

If you break you tires loose they can give you a wreckless ticket but that will be hard to prove in court. the easy ticket to give that can't be challenged easly is excessive speed or accelerating to fast. Excessive speed is one I've seen given a few times.

Hearing all you guys drifting story's is bringing back good memories... the way i figure it is its like this...

You slide it

If it breaks you fix it

If i dont work you make it work

and when you total your stock suspension drifting ORDER NEW ONES BEFORE YOU PLAN ON DOING IT DOH! ( needless to say the new **** is on t here now )

Keep 500 in the bank just incase

and last but not least... grey primer is easier to fix than paint should you crash!
Hey man you forgot Zip Ties... Don't forget those almighty bumper fasteners..

But for whoever started this thread.. buy a POS.. I learned (Still learning) to drift in my pickup truck... but I can only slide when its wet... So track time is limited by weather apparently
