Ready to Go? Getting Started with Track Days

(Part 1: Cars)



On Thursday, March 20, 2008 from 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm at Sunset Imports

in Beaverton come to our free program on track days. The program is free and those who have never done a track day will be eligible for free track day drawings.



Sunset Porsche has graciously allowed us to show a track ready car to demonstrate what you need to do to prepare your car for a track day, what technical inspectors will check at the track, and what modifications are popular for frequent track use. Gary Bockman who has trained thousands of drivers on performance driving, including several current professional racers, will cover what you can expect and how to prepare.



Why should I do a track day? What skills do you learn that can be used commuting?



What kind of car can I use? What can I expect to wear out or break?



How fast will I be expected to go? How dangerous can it get?



Who's the youngest participant? Who's the oldest? How many women attend?



Enter your first track day with confidence instead of anxiety. We won't cover performance driving in this program - that is what you will learn at the track. Instead, you will get information to help you overcome hesitation in joining a fast growing sport.



While this is a great program for those who have never participated, we expect to see regulars as well. Free refreshments courtesy of our event sponsor, Sunset Imports. Admission is free to FOPIR members, so join, if you haven't already on our website www.friendsofpir.com. Drawings for free track days are courtesy of Cascade Sports Car Club and Oregon Region Porsche Club. You don't need to own a Porsche or an import to attend this event or any track days. You do need to have fun.
