Both came in AE85 with SOHC 1.5 and AE86 with DOHC 1.6 and good suspension. same cars, different lights. and front end...basically.

I owned an '86 GT-S, I'll tell you the difference..
In America, an AE85, "LEVIN", would be a 1985 Corolla SR5. They did NOT come stock with Limited-Slip, they were SOHC 1.5L, and are carberated. And yes, in Japan the LEVIN would come with the LEVIN lights. (non-flip-up)
In America, the AE86, "TRUENO", was actually sold between 1985-1987, as Corolla GT-S. They come stock with I think 1-way LSD, are DOHC 4AGE 1.6L motors, and of course, have the flip-ups. They are stock with 125hp. The Japanese TRUENO however comes stock with 140hp, and is better all-around.
Both motors have the capability of having dual-throttle bodies, thanks to modification to the TVIS system created by Toyota.
BTW....the AE101 20valve motor in a Hachi would rape. My car was 125hp, stripped, and I barely lost to my friend's 210hp Eclipse GS-T. :]

My Cardomain profile. (has more pics of the hachi before I sold it)

the Levin is not an SR-5 here. here isnt a Levin here.
Levins are not the SOHC models. there are AE86 4AGE GT Apex Levins available also as
well as AE85 SOHC Trueno's.
