Are Fc Steering Racks Hindering

My front tires don't rub at all if just driving around, those marks came from 100mph+ drifts and bouncing off the burns on the track. I am guessing you have much better and lower side wall tires so you don.t rub even with bigger tires, but I got 55 series cheap tires so at full lock 100 mpg and bouncing around it rubs.
a 100mph drift........who are you??? If you do 100mph drifts on the circuit then you should be in D1!!! I have never did a 100mph drift and I compete in all Japan drift competitions......They still won't let me in D1 though........man You are the ****, I wish I could be as good as you!!
I am not sure exactly about the steering knuckles they are using but yes there is usually a sacrifice to be had with every modification. Rubbing tires and so on is just part of the game I know you know what your talking about there DJ giant robot. The sway bar yes, the frame and inner fender well yes........the A arm seems a little far fetched. I would recommend and so would Fujita engineering......to make a FC much more formidable on the track is to make the front wider This is why I put 30mm over fenders on my car . I do not have any modifications to my steering rack so I cannot speak from personal experience but I know many people who have and I have spoken to Haraguchi from 326power about his FC and the spacers he uses. Also I think putting more camber will alleviate some of the rubbing people experience.

I was try to drift at a road course here in Northern California called Thunder Hill Race Park. You can check out the site for the track and see the course lay out. 100+mph actually was not fast enough, I could carry the drift to about apex and than I would run out of speed and have to come out of the drift. Turn 1 at Thunder Hill is usually entered at about 110-115 mph with decent suspension and tires. I was getting scared even I knew I had to go faster to carry the drift all the way with entrance speed around 110 mph. I have seen to many cars flip at that turn if run off into the out side dirt bank and I don't want to be one of the victim at turn 1 there. I am just writing what happened to me, there was rub mark there and my car is a stock 89 non turbo with 140 rear wheel horse power motor. 350 lb. front and 275 rear springs, KYB non adjustable struts, and no limited slip. You probably think I am full of **** based on the sarcasm I sense in your response, but that is ok. Well measure the distance between the tire and lower A arm at full lock with stock rack, there is not much space there even with stock 16X7 wheels. I don't know nor have witness D1 in Japan but the D1 in California the competitors are going into turn 1 at about 90 mph heading towards a concrete wall so I don't see the big deal to drift at 100 + mph

just to clear up what i'm talking about, here are a couple pics of the overall concept and the finished product. Keep in mind that this setup makes the front wheels steer parallel to each other which technically should allow more control during the the drift but will create more tire wear otherwise. Its also left the stock pivot intact so that its switchable back to the stock position. Right now we are thinking 1" bolt on spacers in the front should allow full lock on a 8 or 9in wide wheel running a 225 or 235 without contacting the sway bar.

Even though this is getting off topic......... D1 at irwindale was not 90 mph. I have many friends who competed in that so I know the scoop. 100mph is like 170kph!!! It would take some serious practice to learn what line to run for that speed and I would imagine radial tires would have a time keeping up with that. I wish you luck in your drifting adventures. Let us know if you make that turn........I would like the chance to drift on those large tracks.

That is really neat piece of work there, I have never seen anything like that before.
basically moves the mounting position of the tie rod so you will have more steering travel. That is quite a bit of movement.......much more than anyone gets from spacers or aftermarket tie rods.

Yep, its for sure not 90mph+ drifts. All you have to do is think about what gear their in.
Irwindale, some were in 2nd, some were in 3rd. Plus, you have tire spin... lots of it. It becomes quickly apparent that no one is doing over 90mph, or even close to that. In fact, its more around 50-60 only by the fastest of the bunch.
I was with Ranzo at the recent Nikko Circuit event, and we come around the fast turn in 3rd, sometimes fourth gear, sideways, wheel spin, and my PowerFC only ever said 148kph,(92mph) so minus the wheel spin from that equation and we were most likely going like 120kph max. (75mph).
Furthermore, sounds like you shouldn't be trying to drift at that track your speaking of if your doing over 115mph. No one does that, not even here.

mazdized: yes i think i mentioned it was hyperrex that was testing it out. I don't have a set on my car yet, however i was involved in the conceptual stage when trying to figure out whether or not this would actually work. Not only does it give you increased steering travel but the wheels steer parallel too each other which is also a HUGE deal.
