Premix People

I've premixed in the neighborhood of 150:1 over the last two tanks and don't get any smoke or premix smell. My gauge appears to work OK. Too early to tell about build-up, but I doubt that build-up will happen with tcw-3 oil, which is designed to stay in suspension in fuel indefinately.

This is very wierd. My guage has gotten slow lately also. I don't think it's the premix though. Is there a way you could check the tank and see if the premix is building up in there? I run .852 ounces per gallon. This works out to about 12 ounces per fillup. I've never fouled a plug do to premix either. Jim keep us posted on what you find out. Which brand of oil are you using? Have you tried switching brands?

I have been using Amsoil premix until very recently. I worked out a trade with Pettit racing 3 gallons of Pettit Protek premix.
I got a littel spastic with the premix at first and I had added too much oil and fouled my plugs. I now only add 4-6 oz. per tankfull.
Running 1 tank without premix for just driving around town once in a blue moon.

FYI...you guys may want to add some Ring Free from Yamaha. Its some serious **** designed for two strokes and my mechanic friends swear by it. Also one of my buds races boats also does yards and puts it in all his premix. He says since he has been doing that his small two strokes have run cleaner longer.
More than likely it can get the oil to thin and mix better off the bottom. but either way it may help with carbon on the seals as in the outboard's rings and reeds.
This is not a regular injector cleaner.

I am talking accumulation in the tank. I have in the past had problems with plugs fouling so I decided when I am only going to be driving around town to just not add premix and fill it up. This way I know I am sort of cleaning out the system sort of speak.
BTW - I add 4 oz. per tankfull in an FC. I have no OMP. When I race I mix 6oz.

I use 4 oz. because of what I have read about amsoil you can run less of it and it will behave as if there is more.
i.e. 4 oz. amsoil would equal about 6 oz. of reg 2 cycle oil.
With Pettits Protek I just do what the instructions say on their bottle. It says to use 4 oz per tankful for daily driving and 6 oz for racing.
