Good writeup...I think I should look into water injection for my next TII...and suggest it to the buyer of this one.

is there a way to spray it if you see the intake temp rising?
You can wire it to do what ever you want. If you want you can wire a switch to turn it on when you want manually. BUT I caution against using it as a method to lower the intake temps when you see them rise. You are missing the entire point of water injection.

the sole purpose of water injection is to prevent detonation.

Lets put it this way, your intake temps are 80C, you floor your car in WOT and hit your boost level, the WI kicks in. By the time the water evaporates and the air goes in your engine you probably cooled the charge by 50C. If you read the articles I posted they will show you on the dyno and at the track heatsoak has been eliminated.

you could run a temp switch and a boost switch. This way if it's cold out and your intake temp is low, even under boost it will not spray. Once the intake temp creeps up and the boost hits it sprays.

If I go turbo on my car, I plan on running water injection instead of an intercooler. MOunting an incooler in the engine of my canam would be hard, since it's a rear engine. May go with a small water-to-air IC, or just water injection. Only going to run 5 psi so water injection only may be enough. Worst case may have to run a small air-to-air IC and wi.

where do I buy a temperature switch? I was looking but cant seem to find one. I'd like to set it for 40 C to come on (when its boosting of course).

thanks

check out autometer, summitracing, stockcarproducts.com the temp switches are usually used to turn on warning lights. I belive they make adjustable ones also.

Sounds interesting.

What measured temp drops have you seen?
I asked Igy about his water injection. He said that his exhaust temps dropped 150+ degrees celsius. Not bad.

That was actually more like 50-100 degrees celsius.

Aaaaaah, Zerobanger is on this forum too.

Maybe I should spend more time here, too. The other forum is not quite a Honda, more like a TII or FD. Good job Nopistons.com
