Hey IGY, is this clutch a push or pull type throw out bearing???

By looking at it, it looks like a push type, but the stock 7MGTE supra is a pull type. So I am wondering were can I get the thow out bearing, and the right slave cylinder?

There is a conversion kit similar to the FD that changes it to push type. It comes with the throwout bearing and sleeve, and a cool looking cantilever arm that bolts inside the bellhousing. I don't know how much it costs, but I assume that it should be around $400 like the FD kit.

Doesn't that suck? Another $400 to make it work.

Thats why I passed up a good deal on a used one. I'll kick myself later though.

AHHHHHHHH....

Damn it, that sucks!

Does anyone know were to get that kit? I haven't even found a web site that sells the tripple disks for MKIII yet. So I have no clue were to start looking for parts.

Yes...start kicking yourself now. Like I said. I've still got another 5 years on my clutch before it gets "close".

Don't mind my ignorance. What is the advantage to the twin and triple plate clutches? How much would a twin or triple plate set up cost stateside? Any links would be appreciated. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/bigok.gif

I would also like to know the answers to those questions

Brand new, on the average a OS Giken twin plate is about $1500-2000, and a tripple is abour $2000-2500. But that is new, also good luck finding a used one, it tooke me forever.

And the advantage of it, is if you have ALOT of HP, meaning like 750+ HP. ANd you can't find a clutch that won't slip under heavy demand. The trin effectively double's the surface area of your clutch and increase's clamping power, and the tripple, well tripple's the surface area of your clutch, and give's you more clamping power.

But I still need to know were to get the throw out bearing kit for this thing, because without it, I've got a $350 paper weight!

any disadvantages to a tripple plate?

do they make tripple plate clutched for fd's?

wanta be boosted 10-02-2003 08:22 PM

I honestly don't know if they make them for FD's, I still haven't even found a tripple for an MKIII supra, well exept for the used on ethat I bought.

And I don't know about the disadvanage's because I haven't drove it yet, but I have heard one guy say that they are very hard to slip. And a huge pain in teh butt to take off of a hill with. And I'm sure it is alot worse in traffic.
