I don't remember, but it was pretty fine. Somebody told me to sand the housing. So I said ok. That motor ran really well...still runs.

theres a tech tip in the 97 mazdamotorsports catalog, that says to wrap 600 grit paper in a block of wood and oil the surface, it works good. we also sand the rotor housings a bit, it helps new apex seals break in on a used housing better
