I'm not sure if this is in the right forum but I figured that it had something to do with performance mods, I just want to know which ones i should do! My car is completely stock, it was owned by a girl who parked it in her back yard and left it there. Its a 1988 TurboII anniversary edition that I bought with 36,000 miles and now it has 50,000 on it. The cat got plugged so i replaced it ($350) and both the mufflers eventually rusted off and were replaced ($100 a piece). I noticed a big increase in power when the mufflers were off and will be buying high flow mufflers this summer. I've read about down pipes directly after the turbo that eliminate one pre-cat, and i've also read about boost controllers and fuel shut-off cut-off switchs (thats a tongue twister, I hope you know what i'm tlaking about). I basically want to know what i can do to this car without touching the engine and not really getting in to deep. I want it to be a comfortable driver that is able to kick some ***. I would like to keep the stock turbo also unless theres one that is better and isn't extremely expensive. My friend just got a 2002 Mustang GT Convertable and i want to be able to walk him easily, and I just drove a 98 Corvette convertable this weekend and after that things raw power i would love to come close to keeping up with that thing. Thanks for the help and sorry for the long post

prior to mods..

id concentrate on replacin items such as:

fuel and oil filters ... plugs and wires

tranny .. diff .. motor .. brake fluids and pads

such wear and tear items..

basically completely rid the car of maintenance issues first

that is... if you havent already done so

Yeah I've taken care of most of that stuff. I need to replace the front pads so i will be doing all 4 with better pads to get it out of the way. Where's some places I can find some of these parts to start my modifications?

Well I've just got a few bolt on mods done to my AE and I'm running about the 1/4 mile time as a new, stock vette. I would start with fuel/cooling mods like a high volume fuel pump, better radiator, front mout intercooler, fuel computer, ect. Then move on to full exhaust and FCD (fuel cut defensor), upgraded turbo, ect.

Here are a few links to get you started...

Theres quite a bit you can do without getting into the motor, it all depends on the budget you set for doing things. Heres a few things to get started....

FCD...(Fuel Cut Defenser).....about $90 from Racing Beat.

TID...(Turbo Inlet Duct)....theres many ways of doing this.

Blow off valve.

TB mod....(Throttle Body)....theres somebody thats sells them with the mod done and polished.

Rewire the fuel pump and upgrade fuel pump.

RB Dp....(Racing Beat Down Pipe)....about $125.

Upgrade secondary injectors.

FPR....(Fuel Pressure Regulator)

Theres alot more but i think this will put you on the right track to getting started in mods, guys if i left out anything please fill in. Good luck with it.

Start with the exhaust, for rotaries exhaust gives the best bang for the buck. You will have to get the fcd simultaneously.

Fuel mods first. Then turn up the boost. Otherwise you'll be needing a new engine.
