ah turbo!

cant go wrong with 3" off the turbo splitting into 2.25" or 2.5"

ideally there should be a muffler in the middle of the car too, it really cuts the noise

Yah, I ran 3" all the way back to a single Borla XR-1 muffler, but I can understand if you'd want to split it and keep the dual exit.

J9, you and I know that the only muffler a turbo RX-7 needs is the turbo itself. Anything else interferes with the sweet music of the machine. My straight-thru Borla is quiet enough to idle past Johnny Law without getting his attention. It would give me a headache if I had to listen to it on a 30-minute commute everyday. Fortuantely, that's not why I have the car.

A muffler amidship, and two mufflers at the rear, depending on what mufflers they are, could be near as quiet as stock. I would think that just the exit mufflers would be tolerable if they were a baffled type. Just remember to buy quality, as the exhaust temps will make quick work of cheap mufflers, or so I hear.
