But they also seem to go like hell, very torquey motor (long stroke) good for turbo, and some models/years were imsa raced iirc? so the gas tank is huge and drivetrain very beefy on those models. Just some of my limited knowlege of the car, sounds like it would be a fun car to modify for racing, if you can find one with no rust.

Starion was THE car to mod back in the 80's and early 90's.
And of course the Grand National
Chrysler had alot of turbo cars in the 80's, you could always pick yourself up a fine turbo Lebaron, or even a turbo New Yorker, lol

Audi 5000 Turbo Quattro - can be had practically free, makes 160hp stock but 225 with chip and wastegate spring from APR, weighs only about 3200lb (pretty light for a biggish sedan), can be tuned up pretty much as far as you want to go.
There's a guy in Sweden who builds these 10 valve turbo fives up to over 700hp. They are pretty bullet proof.
And the quattro will be nice in New England. Actually wherever and whenever conditions aren't perfect. Launching with one or two wheels on a gravel patch? It doesn't care . . . just grips and goes.
